Wyvern Boss Preview: How to Prepare for the Aerial Fight

Prepare for Wyvern's aerial pressure with complementary Styles, useful reach and the best lessons from the director footage.

The quick plan

Wyvern is one of the bosses in the First Bite demo. Bring a way to threaten it in the air, keep a strong ground option for its landing windows, and avoid spending Davy Burst while the boss is out of reach.

The boss fits its place in KOM’s army: wyverns are sent ahead as airborne scouts, only to abandon the assignment and attack whatever catches their attention.

What should you prepare for?

The obvious problem is vertical control. A flying boss decides when ground-range attacks can connect, so a setup that only works directly in front of Davy risks spending too much of the fight waiting.

Before entering, look for:

  • a Style that can threaten targets away from the ground;
  • Body Hack gear with movement or vertical reach;
  • a second Style that remains dependable when Wyvern lands;
  • a saved Davy Burst for a clean damage window rather than a chase.

No single item is mandatory. The Style Eat guide explains why two complementary forms matter, while Body Hack covers the equipment layer.

How to use the first attempt

Do not judge the first attempt only by damage dealt. Use it to answer a few practical questions:

  • Which attacks bring Wyvern low enough for a ground combo?
  • What animation comes before a dive or fire attack?
  • Can Stupid Parry interrupt the move, or is repositioning safer?
  • Is Davy Burst better saved for a landing or stagger window?

Once those patterns are readable, the fight becomes less about chasing and more about being ready for the next opening. The combat guide is useful if camera control is causing more trouble than the boss itself.

Is Wyvern in the demo?

Yes. The publisher’s First Bite announcement says the demo includes two bosses and names Afreet and Wyvern. The demo covers roughly the first two hours and allows save transfer into the full game. See the First Bite guide for download links and the rest of the included systems.

What does Wyvern’s lore tell us?

Wyverns serve as scouts for KOM’s forces, although their appetite for surprise attacks makes them unreliable. Official copy jokes that allies wonder whether their skulls are hollow enough to help them fly. They initially resisted Overtech because they feared looking like “hypebeasts,” but eventually adopted it.

The description is mostly flavor, but it matches the fight’s personality: a dangerous scout that would rather turn the mission into a spectacle.

Current status: HP, elemental weakness, phase changes and rewards have not been published. This page will be updated after repeatable demo runs.
